What a great time it is.
I've been asked to join the gorgeous ladies at Silken Sheets and Seduction where I'll have two regular blog dates every month, so I'm going to have to get a little inventive.
You wouldn't think that would be difficult for an author, but I always find it much harder to write non-fiction. This week's wasn't difficult at all, though. I just spoke about the cowboy in my head.
Why don't you drop by and see what I had to say?
In the meantime, here's an excerpt from one of my cowboy stories:
From the darkened protection of the corner of the room, Flynn watched the curvy little brunette with the bubbly hair bounce around, microphone in hand, wailing her heart out with obvious enjoyment. The sight of her large rounded breasts as they jiggled merrily along with the tune heated his stomach and threatened to move lower. She’d flicked several glances in his direction, and each time she did, he sank farther into the protective shadows by the wall, conscious she couldn’t see the left side of his face too clearly in the blue-hued lighting. Cute and friendly she might seem, but he knew from experience she would change her tune once she got a load of his scars. Women always did.
At the age of eighteen he’d considered himself a lady-killer—as most guys did—but he had been full of himself, knowing he was a good-looking son of a bitch. Never had a single problem or gave a second thought. If he wanted, he took, with great enjoyment and relish. With his unusually pale blue, bold eyes, dark brown hair, and chiseled features, he’d caught the attention of women of all ages. The fact he’d been brought up riding rodeo and working a ranch since he was born just added into the long, lean tone of his body. What nature hadn’t given him naturally, hard work and a tough upbringing had molded to perfection. When he’d joined the Special Forces, he’d honed it beyond perfection. He wasn’t overly tall, just under six feet, but his entire physique gave him presence. As a young man, he’d known it and reveled in it. Ego had driven him hard.
A golden boy, given the gift of a beautiful face, a bright mind, and a naturally lean body. He’d been destined to marry the glamour girl, crowned king and queen of the prom…everyone in town believed he had a long and happy marriage ahead of him with Rachel. Personally, he’d had a few qualms about the woman’s intelligence, but at the time and with the shallowness of youth, he had wallowed in her perfect beauty and the envy of the other boys. Celebrations had been wild at their engagement party before he went off to training camp. Faithful, he had returned to her time and again after each assignment. He’d had ambition, and she’d had plans. The pair were well-suited.
It didn’t matter. It all changed with the slash of a knife. His looks were destroyed, his mind rebelled, and the glamour girl ran screaming for the hills. He’d had the same reaction from women ever since.
He tipped the bottle of beer up to his mouth and stared down the length of it at the pretty brunette. Her breasts were interesting—got a nice little heat going in the pit of his belly—but his preference was her pert little ass as she swayed in perfect rhythm to the song she was murdering. She caught his eye again, gave a broad smile and a twitch of her eyebrows. A definite invitation.
He drew farther into the shadows.

Isabella's Airman - A Birthday Treat
Birthday Book
Happy birthday to Sofia, my lovely guest today. Let's eat cake while we read on...
In my Out
of Time series I’ve created a sterile future world, where emotions are
hidden, information is controlled, and love is unknown. Time travel is used for
collecting historical data, but it doesn’t always go to plan.
Isabella’s
Airman is the
second in this time travel romance series, but it can also be read as a
standalone.
Here’s
a brief excerpt:
My quiet words hung between us. Inside, I
cringed. There was no reason ever to tell the natives why we were there
or to hint at future tech. Nothing would corrupt the timelines quicker than a
peek at the future, and I felt cold at the secret I almost revealed.
Davy replaced his cup in its saucer, and
then reached across the table and touched the back of my hand. My gaze leaped
to meet his. “Maybe when I go on leave next time, you might come with me? I
could take you to Hadrian’s Wall and to sample my mum’s baking.”
Shame flooded me at the deception I was
creating. I couldn’t look at him. I tucked both hands in my lap and stared down
at the table. The tea left a bitter taste in my mouth, or maybe that was guilt?
This was so unfair.
I didn’t even realize I was trembling until
Davy spoke in a low, pained voice. “I’m sorry, Isabella. I didn’t mean to make
you feel uncomfortable.”
Looking up, I saw the hurt in his eyes and
the way his jaw tightened. “I’m sorry,” I blurted. “I can’t do that.”
His mouth twisted, but he didn’t look away.
“I’ve only known you a couple of days, and I know it’s too soon to be making
plans, so don’t say no. Not yet.” He hesitated. I wondered if he could hear how
loud my heart was pounding. “Let’s just take it as it comes. One day at a
time.” His lips curved in a ghost of a smile. “Can we do that?”
I longed to say yes. This was supposed to
be a fact-finding exercise and a step toward an excellent grade for the field
trip. Over a pot of tea in a bustling café, it had grown into something I didn't recognize.
“Isabella?” His voice was soft, coaxing me
to speak. I remembered when he said my name that first night. The gentle lilt,
the way it rolled off his tongue like an endearment. I swallowed. I was in way
over my head already.
Still he watched me. Tension vibrated in
the air. I couldn't say yes, but it would kill me to say no. The paper I’d
written was meaningless. Their chances of survival—this man’s chance—was
dependent on more than proximity to home. He wanted someone to come back to.
There was a lump in my throat the size of a
rock. “One day at a time.”
His smile
was real this time. “That’s all right, then.” He slid the plate of forgotten
carrot cake toward me. “We start with cake.”

in love with rear-gunner Davy Porteous. The second is on its way out as well,
when she realizes history says he won’t survive the war. Torn between the

bio:
Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects
in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha
males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers
her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she
enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes
them work hard for their happy endings.
Music is
interwoven so tightly into my writing that I can’t untangle the two. Either I’m
listening to a playlist on my iPod, have music seeping from my laptop speakers,
or there’s a song playing in my head – sometimes on auto-repeat.

Alpha's Voodoo - New Release from Haley Whitehall
A warm welcome to Haley Whitehall while we celebrate the release of her newest book.
I’d
like to thank Diane for inviting me on her blog to celebrate my new release. Today
is my book birthday for Alpha’s Voodoo. It is my first historical paranormal
romance. Those of you who have read my historical romances before will not be
surprised this one is interracial and takes place primarily on a steamboat.
Hey, I like the water, especially in the summer.
However,
Alpha’s Voodoo is different because the hero is a wolf shifter and there is
magic involved. Or should I say a curse? It was a lot of fun writing the
paranormal elements and I’m looking forward to continuing the Bayou Pack
series.
Blurb:
With
her reputation in tatters, debutante Violet Creed is forced to exchange her
life of luxury for one of uncertainty. Mark Afton wants nothing more than to
take his rightful place as the leader of the Bayou Pack, but he needs a mate.
Is Violet Mark’s destined mate, or is their attraction merely Voodoo magic?
Haley Whitehall is pleased to present Alpha’s Voodoo, Book 1 of her hot, new,
paranormal romance series, Bayou Pack.
Are
curses real or merely imagined?
Violet
Creed is a colored New Orleans debutante. She was brought up with servants and
a strict set of rules regarding propriety, and her papa never approved of her
interest in Voodoo. One night she sneaks out of the house and attends one of
Marie Laveau’s gatherings—where she loses her virginity and her reputation.
Turned out by her papa, Violet is destined for a life on the streets until
Madam Dawn saves her.
Cursed
to live as a wolf shifter, Mark Afton is a wealthy lawyer and heir to the Bayou
Pack. Unfortunately, he can’t take over leadership from his uncle without a
mate. Wanting to escape his mother’s endless matchmaking attempts, he accepts
Madam Dawn’s invitation to sail on the maiden voyage of the Southern Rose and
enjoy the pleasurable company of her ladies.
One
of Madam Dawn’s recent hires catches his attention. He is drawn to Violet
immediately. Could she be his mate or is their attraction merely Voodoo?

Excerpt:
A
thick ball of saliva slid down her throat. The more he played with her breasts,
the more hot honey drenched her tight tunnel. One hairsbreadth at a time she
pressed a single finger inside her molten passage. Stopping when she’d buried
her finger up to her knuckle, she wiggled it a bit, getting used to the feel.
She withdrew her finger just as slowly, hearing the slippery sound of her own
juices.
His
hand circled her wrist and he lifted her finger to his mouth. His warm tongue
licked her wet skin. “Your nectar is so sweet,” he crooned.
Her
heart pounded with such intensity her chest ached. This intimate connection was
not what she had expected. She had wanted to just lie there and let Madam
Dawn’s customers have their way with her.
Active
participation would be unseemly.
His
tongue swirled around her finger, sucking in every drop.
The
longer he licked her finger, the stronger her need to feel him, until she
nearly demanded he thrust his manhood inside her moist heat. Suddenly, she
wanted to be with this man more than anything, more than breathing.
She
rose up, pressing her chest firmly into his hands. “Please,” she said.
“Please.” Her voice grew louder. Perhaps a little encouragement would get him
to satisfy her pressing need.
Her
thighs fell open even wider, as if offering herself up to him.
Ignoring
her encouragement, he continued watching her and occasionally brushing across
her sensitive breasts.
The
man was going to make her do it. He said he would, but she had hoped he’d
change his mind and seek to satisfy himself, too. By the bulge in his trousers,
it was apparent his needs were growing.

***NEW RELEASE*** Banshee Seduction, Montgomery's Sin, Book 1
Blurb
Sweet, shy librarian Ginny has a
problem. Whenever passion strikes, so do the weeping, wailing voices in her
head. Being half banshee, she’s already run screaming from the underworld and
her female relatives, believing love will find a way with patience and faith on
planet Earth.
The trouble is, humans just aren’t man
enough, and every time Ginny shows interest in a male, she makes him bleed.
It’s going to take more than just a simple human being to get past Ginny’s
defenses.
Matthew, “The Dane,” fullback for the
New York Chameleons, knows the moment he meets the little fireball that she’s
his mate. For two hundred years he and his dragon have waited for a female
capable of setting their world on fire. Problem is, he doesn’t seem to be able
to stop her from going up in flames long enough to prove he’s more than man
enough for her screaming banshee.
Will Matt ever be able to convince
Ginny she’s his mate? And will Ginny get Matt alone long enough to let him
appreciate her pyrotechnics?

Excerpt
He had no idea if he was going to
survive. She drove him higher than he’d ever been before, and he’d only managed
to get his hands on her and kiss her. The sweet smell of her skin, the soft
touch of her fingers—umm, well—the yank of her fingers. Desperation was evident
in every move she made, every sound she emitted from her perfect, plump lips.
He cruised his mouth back up the
length of her neck, enjoying the heavy weight of her perfumed breasts in his
hands. He sucked in the silken skin over the racing pulse at the base of her
throat. His tongue smoothed over the flesh he held in his mouth. He felt the
groan reverberate through her throat and flicked his thumb over her taut
nipple.
“Oh, oh.”
With a sharp jerk, she wrenched her
fingers from his hair and grasped his shoulders.
Thrilled at her response and keen that
at last he seemed to be going to get the chance to explore his mate, he
repeated the move with his thumb, stunned she hadn’t yet exploded into a
profusion of fireworks.
The firm grasp of her fingers
tightened on his shoulders like steel clamps. She might be a little thing, but
she sure was undeniably strong. He nipped her neck in retribution. She flung
back her head, making him flinch at the loud thunk as her skull connected with
the heavy leather-bound books behind her.
“I’m coming!” she shrieked, almost
exploding his eardrums.
He reared his head back and stared at
her. “Already?”
Bright puce flooded her face, her lips
parted, and a small keening wail escaped her. Wow, she really was responsive.
Her lush breasts heaved beneath his hands, and the thrum of her pulse escalated
to join the rhythm of his own heartbeat.
“No,” she gasped. “No…the door.”
She gave him a firm shove. Off
balance, he reeled backward into the opposite shelf. His hand caught a row of
books and sent them careering to the floor as his lunchtime leisure break took
off in the opposite direction, tugging her clothes into place and screeching at
whoever hammered on the front door.
“I’m coming. I’m coming!”
Her voice impatient, the fast clip of
her heels echoed against the stone floor as Matt glanced at the fallen books
scattered all around. He hunkered down and picked one up.
